Helping you feel safe

Enhanced Covid-19 protocol OPL2022

The health and safety of our speakers and delegates is our number one priority as we move back to in-person events. We will be following strict COVID-19 protocols above and beyond general UK government guidelines. We of course welcome any further mitigating steps to make this a safe event for everyone. Please take a moment to read the many steps we are putting in place for you to make this another memorable event ahead of London Platinum Week.

Before the event

By attending the Oxford Platinum Lectures, you confirm that you are not currently experiencing any of the symptoms of COVID-19, you have not knowingly been in contact with someone with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 symptoms without completing the necessary quarantine; and that you are not under any self-quarantine order.

We recommend you are fully vaccinated and/or follow guidelines on taking a COVID test before attending the event. In the event of a positive test, entry to the conference will not be permitted. There will be a limit on the number of attending delegates to allow social distancing in the lecture theatre, break areas and throughout the day.

On the day

Oxford Museum of Natural History has been chosen due to its large lecture theatre, spacious breakaway area and track record of managing events with strict COVID-19 protocol.

There will be a minimum of 1m space between delegates when seated. The lecture theatre is equipped with an air purifier and there will also be increased cleaning throughout the day with a focus on touchpoints and microphones. On arrival, temperature checks will be carried out and lateral flow tests will also be available. The venue is also fitted with multiple sanitising stations. At the end of the day, there is a spacious area for a post-event drinks reception. This year there will be no organised evening meal or pub crawl to follow the event, which has previously been held in beautiful but crowded Oxford buildings.

To indicate a personal preference for levels of face-to-face interaction, we will provide coloured wristbands for all attendees to wear. We encourage the use of outside spaces for networking and meetings where possible. All event staff are required to wear masks throughout the day, and all delegates should follow the advice of SFA at the time of the event with regards to wearing a mask. These measures are continually reviewed and adjusted in the lead up to the event, with all delegates informed of any changes in advance.

Following the event

If you test positive for COVID-19 following the event, please email: dmobbs@sfa-oxford.com and follow the presiding local health authority and/or guidelines for treatment, tracing, quarantine and self-isolation.

Please note: The guidelines posted here are based on information currently available regarding the behaviour and characteristics of the COVID-19 virus, public health information and local or state guidelines with respect to large gatherings in any particular community. As more clarity with respect to these variables emerges, it is expected that our guidelines may need to be adjusted accordingly.
